First mares scan in foal to trio of Sumbe newcomers

Just as Nurlan Bizakov’s homebred sophomore Lazzat aced his first Listed test to extend his record to a perfect 3-for-3, this 100% success looks set to become a trademark of the breeding side of our operation as well, with all five first mares covered by our new trio of Group 1 winning stallions scanning in foal.

Four out of these five mares being part of Nurlan Bizakov’s broodmare band, we are clearly moving our chips forward to Sumbe’s top class stallion roster as much as we are delighted by the instant popularity of our three newcomers  inside the breeding community as all three already enjoy deep, quality-packed first books.

Sumbe’s flagship, superchampion Mishriff, had two mare tested pregnant in Tamarind, a Gr.3 winner herself who became one of our foundation mares to produce 3 Stakes performers sporting the blue and yellow silks of Nurlan Bizakov, and in Labaaqa, a Le Havre mare from the close family of Barathea and, more recently, to Breeder’s Cup Juvenile Turf winner Mischevious Magic.

Nurlan Bizakov’s extended home-support also materializes as Sumbe’s new pair of Gr.1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardère winners’ first mares covered are believed to be in foal. Albanka (Giant’s Causeway), the dam of G3 winner and G1 placed Altyn Orda, who has herself produced a much promising 3-year-old filly in Alakai, a dominant maiden winner when last seen at Chantilly in October, has been scanned in foal to Angel Bleu, doubling-down on the Acclamation-line as she also has two earlier foals by Golden Horde.

Belbek, Sumbe’s first homebred Group 1 winner to enter stud, a close relative to influential sire Dansili, seems to kickstart his new career with a 100% strike rate as two Blacktype producing mares from Nurlan Bizakov’s home operation are believed to be in foal : Melilot, whose offspring include a smart filly in Mageva, best known for her third place finish in the Gr.1 Poule d’Essai des Pouliches, and Serres, who has three group winners or performers in her progeny to date. Both were listed in 2021 in Golden Horde’s first book as part of our breeding strategy.
