Katon breaks his maiden by 9L at Chantilly

Making his third start, Katon (Night Of Thunder) made virtually all, pulling clear in the closing stages to impressively get off the mark by nine lengths. He is a half-brother to the Gr.3 (then) Prix Greffulhe winner and Gr.1 Grand Prix de Paris third Alam (Zelzal) and is out of the dual Listed winner Katara (Deep Impact). The second dam Asyad (New Approach) won three times, finished third in the Gr.2 Park Hill Stakes and produced three winners in total, also including the five-time winner Migdam (Zelzal). The next dam is the multiple Gr.1 winner Elle Danzig (Roi Danzig), who produced 12 winners in total, also including the German Gr.3 winner and Gr.1 Preis der Diana second Elle Shadow (Shamardal), the Listed Prix Pelleas winner El Comodin (Monsun), the German Listed winners Elle Gala (Galileo) and Elle Memory (Maxios) and the Listed Prix Belle de Nuit-placed winner Elle Galante (Galileo; dam of the Gr.2 winner and sire Balios). Katara has a yearling colt by New Bay.
