More black type for Ramadan


After racing just off the pace, Christopher Head’s Ramadan ran on strongly to win yesterday’s 1600m Gr.3 EBF Prix Daphnis at Deauville yesterday.


The son of Le Havre was unleashed with just over 500m left to travel. He fought off tough opposition from Andreas Wöhler’s Ghorgan (Study Of Man), who came home a neck behind in second, making this his fourth placed effort at Group level, and the Andre Fabre-trained Supercooled (Lope De Vega), who finished only a short head further back in third.Ramadan, who holds entries in the Gr.1 Prix du Moulin de Longchamp and the Gr.2 Prix Daniel Wildenstein, now has two Gr.3 victories to his name, thanks to success in Longchamp’s Prix de Fontainebleau.


He also has a Listed win under his belt, with this victory coming in March’s Prix Omnium II at Saint-Cloud.The three-year-old runs in the Nurlan Bizakov colours and was bred by Bizakov’s Sumbe operation. He is a half-brother to the Listed Fleur de Lys Stakes winner and Gr.3 Hoppings Stakes runner-up Rasima (Iffraaj), out of Raushan (Dalakhani), who is a full-sister to the Gr.1 Pretty Polly Stakes victrix Chinese White.
