RECORDER: Stakes Winner!

Hot Queen (Recorder) wins LISTED Prix La Camargo at Saint-Cloud

Fillies with Classic aspirations took their turn next in the 1600m Listed Prix La Camargo and four of the eight runners had already earned black type, three of them filling the first three places here. One of them was Indian Wish (The Grey Gatsby), who has raced twice at Cagnes-sur-Mer this year, winning at Listed level over this trip last time out, and she was sent off the market leader. She was held up as Hot Queen made the running and, although she closed on the leader down the straight, could never quite catch her and Hot Queen landed the spoils by half a length under a strong ride from Mickael Barzalona. Indian Wish was second, one length in front of the fast-finishing Listed winner Ataared(Muhaarar). Trained by the Pia and Joakim Brandt partnership, Hot Queen is the first Stakes winner from the first crop by the Gr.3-winning juvenile Recorder (Galileo), who was bred by The Queen and is standing at Sumbe’s Montfort et Préaux at a fee of €4,000. The filly made eight starts at two, winning twice and finishing second in a Listed race at Craon. She was bred by AB Ascot and is the best of the five winners and first eight foals out of Hot Fudge, a Swedish-foaled daughter of Lomitas who was Listed-placed over 2400m. Her dam Christian Church (Linamix) won at two in France and the further family includes the UAE Gr.1 winner Right Approach(Machiavellian), also bred by The Queen, who stood at stud in South Africa. The fourth dam is a half-sister to The Queen’s dual Classic winner Highclere (Queens Hussar), dam of Height Of Fashion (Bustino).
